One ranking policeman who jumped to the help of a colleague who was ambushed by a knife attacker received the King's Commendation for Valor.

Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a blade to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Policeman stabbed," the constable stated over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera footage shared by the agency showed Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, run up to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.

He collided with the policeman who lost balance and dropped to the pavement, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the floor even though being repeatedly struck with the blade.

Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a safe opportunity, bringing the fight to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell can be heard to say: "I need assistance on my throat here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell sustained two open wounds to his neck and further injuries to his limbs and torso, whereas Sgt Foster experienced knife wounds.

Authorities stated Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to stem his partner's bleeding prior to paramedics arrived.

The new award arrives subsequent to the three officers were granted organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional Police Federation in early 2024.

They further earned a Area Courage Honor in July 2024.

"The responses of each policeman ultimately rescued one another and meant no members of the public suffered any harm."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in spring 2024, per officials.
