Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
